In 2017, the Glenwood South Canterbury Trust decided to build an extension to the residents’ dining
room. The aim was to create a large, sunny, comfortable area in which the residents could dine, relax and have a coffee. Rushton Architects designed the new dining room and David Fridd Building was contracted to build the extension.
On 9 November 2018 the new dining room was officially opened, attended by around 150 people. Mr Bruce Woodnorth was invited to unveil the name of the new cafe - "Woodnorth Cafe" - in memory of his father Peter Woodnorth who donated the parcel of land on which Glenwood stands today.
